In perfect solitude, surrounded by rich greenery & perched above the waters of Sugar Creek you will find our pet-friendly cabin Sherwood Forest.  While we have not yet ran across a band of "merry men" in the seclusion surrounding the cabin, we are certain that with its beautiful setting and great amenities Sherwood Forest will soon provide shelter to a long list of merry renters!  Surrounded by a lush natural landscape, "forest" is an accurate description of the seclusion and solitude guests of this cabin will feel.  Sherwood Forest is situated on almost 2 acres, with partially landscaped access to Sugar Creek and a small creek side deck with benches for fishing.  Just a few feet down from the deck you can hear the trickle and rustle of the water gently cascading over and through portions of a dam built and maintained by a very determined family of beavers.  When heavy rains create a break in the dam you can watch the beavers from the cabin windows working feverously  to repair the spill, creating a complex interstate of trails and shortcuts in the tall grass between the tree line on the opposite creek bank and the water.   Though the activities of the busy beavers are just out of sight of the custom-made hot tub gazebo, it is not likely you will miss the entertainment while soaking in the spa’s beautiful tree-top setting.  The hot tub is truly a grownup version of the perfect tree house, with its skylight, privacy shutters along one side, and easy access with minimal stairs from both the cabin’s main and terrace levels.  The main level porch has rockers perfectly placed for quiet & relaxation looking down over the creek below, and on the main level guests can easily bounce between the cabin’s gas grill and kitchen while cooking out.

With so much to enjoy and explore outside some guests might have a hard time deciding to spend time inside that is until they see the Jacuzzi tub and king size bed in the main floor master suite!  Unlike most cabins Sherwood Forest is perfectly suited for one-level lodging, but it also has plenty of space & other great amenities on its loft and terrace levels to ensure it can comfortably accommodate and entertain groups of up to 6 guests and their 4 legged companions!  The kitchen is equipped with gourmet appliances any cook will appreciate, including a confectioner’s oven and oven with a warming drawer.  The great room has a plush sofa and easy chair, plenty of board games, a TV with DVD player and a beautiful creek rock fireplace.  The log stairs leading to the loft access wind behind the fireplace and empty out into a small work area in the landing.  The loft bedroom has an attached bath with shower and is furnished with queen size bed and twin bed with trundle.  The terrace level of the cabin has been devoted entirely to entertainment.  The cabin’s media room is located on the terrace level, in this space guests can pass the hours away playing billiards on the cabin’s pool table, or enjoying a movie night perusing the cabin’s DVD library.  On the terrace level porch there is a porch swing & a pair of sturdy Adirondack rockers to rock away the afternoon looking out over the creek below.

The tranquility of Sherwood Forest’s setting is especially shocking when you consider its proximity to downtown Blue Ridge.  Despite feeling a world a way, Sherwood is only minutes from Hwy 515 and a short drive to horseback riding, tubing, whitewater rafting, and one of the closest cabins we have to the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway.
